Scholarships

The Mars Planet Foundation stewards a list of scholarships that is growing every year.  We proudly support, choose and award them to deserving Seniors who will be furthering their education in their chosen fields.  We do this through our annual support of the Mars Area High School Academic Awards Ceremony.

Deadline to submit ALL Scholarship applications is March 1, 2026

All Scholarships Applications must be submitted by MARCH 1, 2026

Scholarship winners will be announced at the Senior Awards Banquet on May 13th, 2026

BC3 Pioneer Education Scholarship

Award: $1000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Accepted at Butler County Community College
  • Must have 3.0 or above GPA

Info: This scholarship is to provide a  $1000 non-renewable scholarship to a Butler County Community College bound senior help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.  CLICK HERE TO APPLY to the BC3 Scholarship



Don McCleary Trade Scholarship

Award: $2000 (depending on funding each year)

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Must be a graduating senior at Mars or Seneca Valley High Schools and a graduating senior at Butler County Area Vocational Technical School.  
  • Currently enrolled in a Vocational-Technical Program
  • Plan to continue education after graduation in Heating/Cooling, Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Carpentry, Collision Repair, Heavy Equipment Repair or Welding.
  • Must be hard worker, have good attendance, and a respectable GPA

Info: To provide a $2000 (depending on funding each year) non-renewable scholarship Senior currently enrolled in a Vocational-Technical Program who will be continuing their education in the Vocational-Technical field

Helen Werner Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2000 (depending on funding each year)

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Must have 3.0 or above GPA
  • Accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college or four year college or university.
  • Preference will be given to a student who is first in their immediate family to attend college or apply to formal post-high school education.

Info: To honor hard-working college-bound students by helping them to get started towards a college degree. The $2000, one-year renewable scholarship, for one more year, can help you get started, then YOU take over and finish! Be a Helen! Do it!

Jake Cooper Memorial ("Jake's Way") Scholarship

Award: $5000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a 4 year college or university 
  • Student must have participated in a varsity sport 
  • Student must have a 3.0 or above QPA 

Info: To provide a college bound Mars Area High School Senior, who has participated in a high

school sport, with a $5000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray cost of the first-year post-secondary education.

Katie Marie Nelson Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior 
  • Must hold a 3.5 GPA or above 
  • Must be pursuing a B.S. degree at a four-year accredited college in a STEM-related major. Preference will be given to applicants seeking medical-related degrees.

Info: To provide $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to a Mars Area High School student seeking post-secondary education in a STEM-related field that embodies Katie’s spirit of philanthropy, scholarship, compassion for others, and zest for life. Prior award winners are eligible to re-apply. Funds should be used to defray the cost of post-secondary-related expenses.

Kean Foundation Scholarship for the Arts

Award: $2000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior 
  • Student must have a 2.5 QPA or above.
  • Student must have participated in the arts while in High School (i.e. orchestra, band, chorus, art classes, graphic arts, photography, drama productions, etc)
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university. 

Info: To provide a Mars Area High School Senior with a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year post-secondary education.

Kean Foundation Scholarship for STEM

Award: $2000

Requirements to Apply:  

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Student must have a 2.5 QPA or above. 
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university. 
  • Student plans on pursuing a future career in one of the STEM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.   

Info: To provide a Mars Area High School Senior with a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year post-secondary education.

MARS AREA HIGH SCHOOL CHEER BOOSTERS EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Award: $1000 and $500

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • A member of the Mars Area High School Varsity Cheer Team
  • Accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university.
  • Must have 3.0 or above GPA

Info: This scholarship is to provide two (2) Mars Area School District Varsity Cheerleaders two (2) non-renewable scholarships in the amount of $1000 and $500 to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Girls Basketball Boosters Education Scholarship

Award: $1000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Student must be a senior on the Mars Area High School Girls Basketball Team.
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in an accredited technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university.
  • Student must have a minimum of a 3.0 QPA.  
  • Applicants must complete a one-to-two-page essay

Info: To provide a Mars Area School District Senior Girls Basketball player a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Hockey Club Team Educational Scholarship

Award: $250 to two (2) Senior Hockey Players

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Student must be a senior on the Mars Area High School Hockey Team.
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in an accredited technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university.

Info: To award two (2) senior hockey players from the Mars Area School District with a $250 non-renewable scholarship to assist with the costs of their first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Mars Musical Theater Booster - Marlin Clay Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500 - $1,000

Requirements to Apply:  

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • A member of the Mars Area High School Musical Theater production for the 2025-2026 school year. 
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in an accredited technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university. 
  • Student must have a minimum of a 3.0 QPA. 

Info: To provide two (2)  Mars Area School District Musical Theater Cast or Crew Members one (1)  non-renewable scholarship in the amount of $500 to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Swimming & Diving Boosters Education Scholarship

Award: $500

Requirements to Apply:  

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Student must be a senior swimmer or diver on the Mars Area High School Swimming/Diving Team
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in an accredited technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university
  • Applicants must complete a one-to-two-page essay

Info: To provide a college bound Mars Area School District Senior swimmer or diver a $500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

MARS BACKSTOP CLUB BASEBALL PLAYER SCHOLARSHIP

Award: $1,950

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Mars Baseball Player
  • Student must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university  

Info: To provide a Mars Area High School senior, who is a member of the Mars High School Baseball team, with a $1950 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year of post-secondary education

Mars Planet Foundation Education Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college, or 4-year college or university.
  • Participate in Community Service
  • Must have 3.0 or above GPA

Info: This scholarship is to provide a college bound Mars Area High School Senior with a $2500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Planet Foundation School Spirit Scholarship

Award: $2,500

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Student must meet graduation requirements 
  • Student has a positive impact on the school community 
  • Student communicates effectively, appropriately and creatively with peer group
  • Student displays motivation and ultimate responsibility for service to the school and community through perseverance 

To provide a Mars Area School District Senior a $2,500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray the costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

William R. "Beel" Neel Scholarship for Mars High School Students

Award: $5000

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Mars Area High School Senior
  • Must be accepted or enrolled for the upcoming school year in a technical school, community college or four year college or university. Please submit proof of acceptance with your application.
  • Applications will be evaluated on 1) need and 2) social justice goals and intentions.

Info: To support a Mars High School student with a $5000 scholarship to pursue social justice through their education.
