Scholarships

The Mars Planet Foundation stewards a list of scholarships that is growing every year.  We proudly support, choose and award them to deserving Seniors who will be furthering their education in their chosen fields.  We do this through our annual support of the Mars Area High School Academic Awards Ceremony.

Annual Scholarships

BC3 Pioneer Education Scholarship

To provide one Butler County Community College bound Mars Area High School Senior with a $1000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education. 

Don McCleary Trade Scholarship

To provide a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to a Mars Area High School Senior currently enrolled in a Vocational-Technical Program who will be continuing their education in Heating/Cooling, Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Carpentry, Collision Repair, Heavy Equipment Repair or Welding.  

Edward R. Choura Vocational-Technical Automotive Tech Scholarship

To provide a $1000 non-renewable scholarship to a Mars Area High School Senior currently enrolled in a Vocational-Technical Program who will be continuing their education in automotive technology at an automotive trade school or similar institution/program.  

Helen Werner Anderson Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Helen Werner Anderson scholarship is to honor hard-working college-bound students by helping them to get started towards a college degree.  The $2000, one-year renewable scholarship, for one more year, can help you get started, then YOU take over and finish!  Be a Helen!  Do it!

Jake Cooper Memorial ("Jake's Way") Scholarship

To provide a college bound Mars Area High School Senior, who has participated in a high

school sport, with a $5000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray cost of the first-year post-secondary education.

Katie Marie Nelson Memorial Scholarship

To provide $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to a Mars Area High School student seeking post-secondary education in a STEM-related field that embodies Katie’s spirit of philanthropy, scholarship, compassion for others, and zest for life. Prior award winners are eligible to re-apply. Funds should be used to defray the cost of post-secondary-related expenses.

Kean Foundation Scholarship for the Arts

To provide a Mars Area High School Senior with a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year post-secondary education. 

Kean Foundation Scholarship for STEM

To provide a Mars Area High School Senior with a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year post-secondary education. 

Lefcon Technology Scholarship

A $2500 Scholarship will be awarded to a student who will be pursuing a degree at a 2-year, 4-Year college/university or technical school and will be majoring in a technology field.  

Mars Area High School Cheer Boosters Education Scholarship

To provide two (2) Mars Area School District Varsity Cheerleaders two (2) non-renewable scholarships in the amount of $1000 and $500 to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education. 

Mars Area High School Girls Basketball Boosters Education Scholarship

To provide a Mars Area School District Senior Girls Basketball player a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Hockey Club Team Educational Scholarship

To award two (2) senior hockey players from the Mars Area School District with a $250 non-renewable scholarship to assist with the costs of their first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Mars Musical Theater Booster - Marlin Clay Memorial Scholarship

To provide one (1)  Mars Area School District Musical Theater Cast or Crew Member one (1)  non-renewable scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

To provide one (1) Mars Area School District Musical Theater Cast or Crew Member one (1) non-renewable scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education.

Mars Area High School Swimming & Diving Boosters Education Scholarship

To provide a college bound Mars Area School District Senior swimmer or diver a $500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education. 

Mars Backstop Club Baseball Player Scholarship

To provide a Mars Area High School senior, who is a member of the Mars High School Baseball team, with a $2000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year of post-secondary education

Mars Planet Foundation Education Scholarship

To provide a college bound Mars Area High School Senior with a $2500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education. 

Mars Planet Foundation School Spirit Scholarship

To provide a college bound Mars Area High School Senior with a $2500 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first-year post-secondary education. 

Ross McConnell Memorial Scholarship

To provide one student that is currently enrolled in the Butler County Vocational Technical School with a $1000 non-renewable scholarship to help defray costs of the first year postsecondary education. 

William R. "Beel" Neel Scholarship for Mars High School Students

To support a Mars High School student with a $5000 scholarship to pursue social justice through their education.
